Since we last posted we have been to Keswick and are now in Bath. Did a wee row around the lake at Keswick and just walked around the town. Pretty foggy there. Now in Bath after a long train ride. Not too much to say really. Just updating on where we are.
How things can change. From a great day to an absolute shocker. Headed to the National Museum of Scotland which was really cool. Danielle got up close with some dead animals.
Pucker up!
We then decided to head to Edinburgh Castle. That’s when the heavens decided to open up and drenched us. We bought and umbrella that blew inside out and waited in a queue for an hour in the pouring rain….not fun at all. Took us all of last night to get things dry with the hair dryer that the hostel provided.
What we did see of Edinburgh Castle was really good though and we got some sweet snaps that I will add later off our camera.
We are currently in Penrith now waiting for our bus to Keswick. Couple of relaxing days ahead.
What a city! It’s Dunedin on steroids. All the same street names which is pretty cool to see. There is even castle street but sadly no Gardies. We arrived early this morning and luckily our hostel is so awesome they let us have breakfast and a shower before checking in. Another beautiful day on our trip, we decided to have a cruisy day today so jumped on a bus and did a city site seeing tour.
Spring!
We then had lunch in the sunshine with an average view…..
Edinburgh Castle
Right next to this….
Scott Monument
Just had a delicious pub meal and a terrible Scottish beer! I can’t recommend ‘The Flying Scotsman’.
Good meal, terrible beer.
Tomorrow we are going to walk around the sites we saw today…if we have enough time.
Another huge day in London. Woke up to a cracking day so decided to see London from the sky and go up the London Eye.
Big Ben and House of Parliament from the London Eye
As requested here is a pic of us up the London Eye! London Eye
We then went and checked out St Paul’s Cathedral. Another pretty amazing building.
St Paul's Cathedral
Visited the British Museum, Science Museum and Natural History Museum over the last 2 days. Natural History wins hands down!
Heading to Edinburgh tonight on the night train which leaves at midnight so another very long day for us…but really looking forward to seeing some of Scotland.
What a day! Started off at Westminster Cathedral then headed to Buckingham Palace. After waiting in the freezing cold for almost 2 hours we had a front row view of the changing of the guards….what a site! It was well worth the wait. We headed to Westminster Abbey next and debated whether or not to go in but decided we should. Thank goodness we did because it was spectacular.
Westminster Cathedral
We then headed to The House of Parliament and Big Ben.
Finally we caught the underground to the British Museum. An amazing place full of Egyptian, Greek and Roman history.
After a big day we eventually made it back to our hostel…just. Exhausted now but we’ll worth it.
After catching the Eurostar this morning we arrived in a wet and cold London. We decided to go and have a look at the tower of London and the precious crown jewels. We are now pros at the underground
The countdown is on!!!! Here is a rough itinerary that we have put together. We are really flexible so this is bound to change. Kiwistravelling Itinerary.
