Pretty chilled day today. It rained this morning and we didn’t want to get caught out in it again so we explored the main street close to where we are staying. Lots of restaurants. We stopped at one and had tapas for lunch.
Then we headed to the beach this afternoon and relaxed in the sun. Its only two blocks from where we are staying which is pretty cool.
So yesterday’s update didn’t put any of the pics up cause the internet cut out so have put them up now.
We decided to skip Perpingnon and head straight to Barca. We got had a look round Avignon this morning. The pattern continues. It rained yesterday but was an amazing day today.
We then jumped on the train at 11:30 and have just arrived in Barca at 7:30pm. A long ride but alot of it along the coast which was awesome. Danielle is speaking Italian grazie instead of gracious.
A pretty laid back couple of days. Ventured into old Lyon yesterday and got caught in yet another downpour that lasted the rest of the day. We managed to visit St Jean’s Cathedral though which wasn’t too bad.

Today was the complete opposite it was a stunning day. There seems to be a pattern here that on our last day in a city the weather is amazing! We hiked up a whole heap of stairs to Our Lady Fourvière Basilica. The stairs were definitely worth it when we got to the top….
The view from the top
The Basilica was stunning. The best interior of a church we have seen yet. So much detail!

The outside wasn’t too bad either…

On the way back to the hotel we walked through more of the old Lyon.

We then jumped on a train to Avignon which is a choice city surrounded by a wall. Staying here tonight then moving on to Perpignan tomorrow.
A very rushed morning/afternoon today. Got up and took the metro to Notre Dame on an absolutely stunning day in Paris. A ton more people as ever but the lines weren’t too bad because it’s free. Another really old church to add to the list. But we’re allowed Pics which is always good.

That’s when the fun started. We had heard from a couple of places that the trains were very rarely full so we had not reserved a seat on the train to Lyon. We went to the train station hoping to get on the 3 pm TGV to Lyon taking 2 hours but were told we need to book them 7 days ahead. A nightmare! We were told there was another train that took 5 hours and left at 1:38pm. So we had to make it back to the hostel, get our packs then catch 2 metro trains to the Lyon train. We arrived at 1:35pm…talk about cutting it fine. But we have arrived in Lyon now and are staying in a hotel and not a hostel which is a great change. Couple of really relaxing days ahead.
What a great day. Got up nice and early and caught the metro to Disneyland. Arrived just on opening and jumped straight on Indiana Jones Temple of Doom…was epic. From there the rides just got better. Best of the day was either Space Mountain or Tower of Terror. Danielle was like a little kid in a candy store she didn’t know where to go and had an awesome day.

Off to see Notre Dame tomorrow then catching the TGV to Lyon.
Bonjour! Today we visited the tourist magnet the Eiffel Tower. Got there right on opening and the line was bearable. Headed up to the top and got a glorious view of Paris.

We then headed to our new hotel which is really close to the Arc de Triomphe so we went and checked it out. We walked down Avenue des Champes Elysees which is an awesome street with all the high end stores.

We climbed to the top of the Arc de Triomphe and got another great view of Paris. Eiffel Tower from Arc de Triomphe
And also the amazing driving that occurs on the roundabout… Good driving
We happened to be there when the Flame of remembrance was being relit for the unknown soldier. Relighting the Flame of remembrance
Going to Disneyland tomorrow. Don’t think Danielle will get any sleep as she is very excited!
A very slow day today. Danielle has a cold and I was a bit worse for wear after a few drinks with some Americans. Another rainy day on our trip but we decided to jump on the metro and check out the Louvre. The metro is a bit crazy compared to the underground but still really easy.
The Louvre
We were never planning on going in. It’s not really our thing and we are glad cause the line and hour long in the pouring rain.
Danielle made me do it!
We found a little market and had a wee look around but was all a bit overwhelming and we didn’t stay too long. But ventured into a local Patisserie for some Baguette and Pain aux chocolat.
Have 3 more nights in Paris. Will be planning the days to come tonight.
Back in Paris after a wicked time in the UK. Big night last night with Six60. Live and massive as always.
Six60
Headed to London Zoo this morning after a long night at our worst hostel yet. People smashing windows and getting kicked out. London Zoo was not what we expected but the Gorillas and tigers were still cool to see.

Danielle even made a friend…
Danielle's new bestie.
Took the Eurostar back to Paris in the afternoon and are staying in a much better hostel than the last time we were in Paris. Eiffel tower and Arc de Triomphe tomorrow.
A pretty cruisy day today. Went to the Roman Baths this morning which were pretty wicked to see. They have been worshipped for so long and still pump out water at 45 degrees.
Not allowed to touch the water and have a bath! The main bath with Bath Abbey in the background.
We then looked in Bath Abbey. Another really old church with awesome stain glass windows. Finally a church we can take photos in!

Just on our way to back to London now. Heading to London Zoo tomorrow.
Another cool city to add to a list that is growing very quickly. Not too bad waking up to this outside the window…
Outside our room window.
We did a walking tour this morning of the city which was a good starting place. Found a shop with All Blacks jerseys for 30 pounds! We are going to go back and look at the places we liked tomorrow.

After the walking tour we jumped on a bus headed to Stonehenge. It was a pretty cool and eerie experience. Soo old with no real explanation.
Stonehenge Danielle geeking out.
Headed back to London tomorrow afternoon where we have tickets to six60 at the Forum.
